Carrot Seed Therapeutic Grade™ Essential Oil
Carrot Seed Essential Oil (Daucus carota) has a mildly sweet aroma with earthy, herbaceous hints. Traditionally, it has been used for digestive complaints due to its tonic properties. This oil also has historical use in aromatherapy for joint conditions.* *Modern scientific research has not yet validated these traditional claims.
Carrot Seed comes from the parsley botanical family has a tonic action on the liver, gallbladder and kidney disorders and has been used for the treatment of jaundice. It has anti-parasitic antiseptic, diuretic and vasodilatory properties and can also be used for skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, oily skin and wrinkles.
In Aromatherapy Scent and Psyche, Peter Damian writes: "Diuretic and hepatic, carrot seed operates as a kidney and liver cleanser, particularly indicated for jaundice and hepatitis. Its detoxifying properties are likewise effective for treating arthritis and rheumatism."
Dr. Kurt Schnaubelt recommends the following blend for dull, pallid, and lifeless skin, tired from environmental stress. It is based on the regenerating, stimulating qualities of Carrot Seed Essential Oil. Mix .5ml Carrot Seed oil, .5 ml Lemon, .5 ml Niaouli, and .5 ml Rosemary, in a base of 50ml of Hazelnut oil.
Key Constituents of Carrot Seed Essential Oil:
Carotol — 30-40%
Alpha Pinene — 12-16%
Trans Beta Caryophyllene — 6-10%
Application: As a dietary supplement, dilute two drops in a capsule. Take three times daily or as needed. Topical: Apply 2-4 drops directly to desired area. Dilution not required except for the most sensitive skin. Aromatic: Diffuse up to one hour three times daily. Keep out of reach of children.
