Citronella Essential Oil (Cymbopogon nardus) is popularly used as an insect deterrent. Traditionally it has also been used to prevent food spoilage due to fungus and bacteria.
Citronella has also been used by various cultures to combat intestinal parasites, menstrual issues and was historically used to sanitize and deodorize surfaces.
To enhance the effect of Citronella when used as an insect repellent, combine it with Cedarwood.
Citronella is also a powerful antioxidant and combats bacteria, fungus and parasites. Also useful against inflammation and muscle and nerve spasms, digestive issues, respiratory infections, to relieve anxiety and for skin issues like acne, eczema and oily skin. Its fragrance is refreshing and uplifting.
Citronella rates 312,000 uTE/100g on the ORAC scale.
Key Constituents of Citronella Essential Oil:
Geraniol — 18-30%
Limonene — 5-10%
Application: As a dietary supplement, dilute one drop with V-6™ Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or other organic vegetable oil (e.g., virgin coconut, olive, almond). Put in a capsule and take up to three times daily or as needed. Topical: Dilute one drop with V-6 or other vegetable oil; apply to desired area. Aromatic: Diffuse up to 30 minutes three times daily. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult a health-care practitioner prior to use.
