Clove Therapeutic Grade™ Essential Oil
Clove Essential Oil (Syzygium aromaticum) has a sweet, spicy fragrance that is stimulating and revitalizing. An important ingredient in our Thieves blend due to its wonderful immune-enhancing properties, its principal constituent is eugenol, which is used in the dental industry to numb the gums. Clove is the highest-scoring ingredient Young Living has ever tested for its antioxidant capacity on the ORAC scale. Always dilute for topical use. Clove may also be used to enhance the flavor of foods.
Historical Data: The people on the island of Ternate were free from epidemics untiil the 16th century, when Dutch conquerors destroyed the clove trees that flourished on the islands. Many of the islanders died from the epidemics that followed. Cloves were reputed to be part of the "Marseilles Vinegar" or "Four Thieves Vinegar" used by grave-robbing bandits to protect themselves during the 15th century plague. Clove was listed in Hildegard's Medicine, a compilation of early German medicines by highly-regarded Benedictine herbalist Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179). Healers in China and India have used clove buds since ancient times as part of their treatments. Eugenol, clove's principal constituent, was used in the dental industry for years to numb gums. Courmont et al. demonstrated that a solution of .95% eugenol from clove oil was sufficient to kill the tuberculosis bacillus (Gatefosse, 1990).
Clove scores the highest of any therapuetic grade essential oil on the ORAC Scale (Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity) at 10,786,875 which means that the higher the ORAC score, the more powerful the oil is in destroying free radicals which results in retarding the aging process, preventing cancers and other diseases, etc.
An ounce of clove oil has the antioxidant capacity of 450 lbs of carrots, 120 quarts of blueberries or 48 gallons of beet juice!

*These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Don't expect the same results unless you are using Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ Essential Oils and supplements. Also each person is unique and different in chemistry and toxicity levels, as well as emotionally and spiritually, so an oil that is suggested for an issue may not work as well as another. If a change is not apparent within three minutes, try another oil.
